In Book VI Chapter 5 Augustine talks about how he so blindly believed stuff he had never seen. I believe we as humans tend to believe things just because we are told they are true. As a young child we are taught to at and believe a certain way and most of the time it isn't until later in life that we begin to question what we are told. As Christians we must come to a point in our lives where we own our faith. There is a point in life when you must know why you believe what you believe instead of simply believing because that is what your parents say. It is important for us to grow our knowledge on what we believe and be able to understand why we believe something.
Augustine then goes on to say that there are some things we must believe based just on trust. I also agree with this because there are some things that it is impossible to see for yourself. Trust is an important component in the Christian religion. There are some things we just can not understand. There are things that we as finite humans cannot understand about the infinite. There are things we read and learn about that we simply can not comprehend or be there to see. This can be related to faith in the Christian religion. Sometimes Christians must simply just have faith that something did happen or something will happen.
It is important for humans to have an equal balance of belief and question. It is important to question what you are told but there are some things we simply can not prove or understand. We must be able to distinguish between blind belief and faith. There are things we should question but sometimes we must take a step back and simply have faith that it is true.
