I am consistently encouraged and entranced by the way Augustine tries to comprehend God. In the current era we are often discouraged from the process of seeking to understand God or of what is made but Augustine had no such discouragement. I am continually impressed at his way of constant praise amidst the search for understanding.
In discussion of the Augustan or Augustinian time's view of good it was made clear that good is something that is complete or fulfills it purpose and that something that doesn't fulfill his purpose is corrupted and not good. I came to connect more dots very closely to my understanding of software and coding and the life of a christian. Recursion or recursion algorithms and programs are bits of software that create itself which creates themselves which create more of themselves. When I was younger I worked for a church in the production area and we used a recursion code to properly transmit the pro presenter computer slides to the livestream computer in real time. I will link an image of what this looks like. when I saw it for the first time I genuinely thought the computer was melting down. My boss explained to me what a recursion program was and that it is very similar to what we are called to be as christians. You go and make disciples and your disciples make disciples and so on. This train of thought led me to the idea of the host of a recursion program is usually the base code. Without the base code no other software can perform anything. Not only does a base code dictate the way other softwares behave but it also dictates the why softwares must behave in the way they do. Insert John 1:1-4 "1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4 In him was life, and the life was the light of men." In the beginning was the base code and without the base code no software exists. All software stems from the base code and must follow the base code to perform the desired tasks.
Another interesting thing reflecting back upon the idea of, "if something doesn't fulfill its purpose it is corrupted" We see the same things in code script. If a code is one digit different from the correct version it is considered corrupted and is incapable of performing the desired task. For example the code:
youtube-dL [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ] -f mp4
would be rendered useless if I forgot one dash. This reflects back the greek word for sin hamartia being an archery term is aiming in the right direction but just missing the mark. With smaller codes like the aforementioned one dash renders the entire code useless but with larger more complex codes one dash can cause the code to behave differently than expected. When a code behaves differently than expected more often than not one can insert various following codes to redirect it to perform the intended task. In a similar way our life is so incredibly complicated, and our code can be recovered by the Master Coder (God). Our lives not be behaving as He wants because of the flaws we inadvertently place in our code can surely be fixed by adding following codes that draw us back into His will and our intended task.
I would love to write more on this in the future. I commented on Clabo and Logan turner's blogs.
It is so interesting how you can relate a thing so complex to a material concept on earth. Even though it doesn’t explain everything, you managed to explain the jist of the concept.

This is a very interesting comparison that I had not considered. This post explained this concept very well.
