Hildegard von Bingen was called into the ministry at a young age of only sixteen. This makes me think how important time is in the eyes of God. God gives us only one lifetime on earth to fulfill His plan for our lives, and it is our duty to use our time efficiently for God. As a college student, it can be easy for me at times to miss the big reason for why I am receiving an education. I visualize walking across Weaver's lawn and touching the globe to receive my degree in a few years. Of course, that is important, but I am not thinking about that what I am doing is for the glory of God. We have all had those weeks of never-ending assignments, and we become so stressed that we forget the big picture.
We are all called to do some sort of vocation for the Lord. It does not matter what occupation we choose, but what matters is our motives for choosing that occupation. 1 Samuel 16:7B says, "For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart." In other words, we do not have to be called into the ministry to accomplish God's plan for our lives. We just need to listen to Him and have a grateful heart for what He has called us to do.
I have commented on Hailey Morgan and Abigale Bell's blog posts.
Time is a never-ending process. Like sand constantly slipping through your fingers or drops of water forever being carried downstream, there never seems to be enough hours in they day!
ReplyDeleteOur society tends to focus on time and what we be accomplished during the little bit that we are given each day. Isn't it funny how anxiety and stress always seem to tag along when you are focused on chasing after time?
Shifting your focus to God, following in His steps, and acting based on His perfect timing is honestly the best thing to do in life. This is also, ya know, what we are instructed to do in the Bible! When we trust the Lord, everything falls into place exactly as it should and anxiety and stress melt away since their power is not as great as His own.
Yes, I agree. Also we shouldn't let our inexperience or age keep us from doing something brave God has called us to do. This reminds me of Jeremiah the prophet. When God called him, he tried to object about his youth, but God still used to him to deliver warnings to the nation Israel. He was like a year older than Hildegard when he got this purpose.
